Why travel to Rome? The archaeological wonder is coming to Jerusalem
A new and special exhibition in the City of David will allow a glimpse of ancient 2000 year old burial caves, inside which illustrations with Jewish symbols have been discovered. The exhibition was established thanks to a comprehensive study by the Israel Antiquities Authority that stretched across the sea – to the Italian capital.
The Mount of Olives cemetery, though usualy treated as a single cemetery, is comprised of several adjacent cemeteries, each one owned and run by a distinct Chevra Kadisha (burial society). The operation of all the Chevrot Kadisha is overseen by Moetzet Batei HaAlmin HaYehudim B’Yerushalyim (Council of Jewish Cemeteries in Jerusalem) and the Ministry of Religious Services.
