Switching between periods

Roman and Byzantine periods – Mishna and Talmud Period

The Roman-Byzantine period began under pagan Roman rule and transformed into Christian Roman (Byzantine) rule following the Christianization of the empire. The transition between the two periods is marked on the timeline before us in the year 324 CE, with the unification of the Roman Empire under the rule of Emperor Constantine the Great. This date is primarily symbolic, as the process of Christianizing the Roman Empire actually spanned many years during the 4th century CE.
