A fascinating lecture in which we will return to the days of the Second Temple and join a caravan of pilgrims on their journey from a small village in the Galilee to the gates of Jerusalem.
Welcoming hundreds of thousands of pilgrims required a complex logistical operation. We will see how water, ritual baths, roads, and lodging were provided for the pilgrims.
We will visit the markets of the ancient city and climb towards the Temple Mount along the Pilgrimage Road, all through the lens of historical sources and archaeological finds.
