In this article, William G. Dever argues that archaeological evidence and critical biblical analysis should be seen together as sources for studying early Israelite statehood. Combining the two shows a real Israelite state in the 10th century BCE with historical kings David and Solomon, rejecting minimalist “revisionist” attempts to erase ancient Israel’s early statehood.
