Jerusalem got a brand new zipline today. I wanted to be one of the first to check it out. The 750-meter zipline is the longest in Israel, nearly twice as long as the one in Gush Etzion. It starts at the Tayelet in Armon Hanatziv Promenade and overlooks the Old City, the City of David, and the Temple Mount. Me and a friend got to the Tayelet and walked to the new Mitzpe David visitor center at the far end of the promenade. this is a serious thrill ride. You have to be between 45 kg and 120 kg to ride the zipline.. While I got a bit scared waiting in line, once I was strapped into my harness, I felt at ease and enjoyed the beautiful scene. The actual ride was probably just about 45 seconds or so, but we flew over hills, trees, and valleys, and had incredible views on all sides. Really cool. The end of the ride was at the bottom of the Peace Forest next to Abu Tor and the Yes Planet Theater. It's a really interesting area with camping and other amenities that many Jerusalemites don't really know about. We took a shuttle back to the starting point to get our things, and headed home.
