Eli Shukrun from the Antiquities Authority, certified by the Institute of Archeology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, began his work more than fifteen years ago in the City of David. Since then, Shukrun has become one of the experts on the archeology of Jerusalem, and has amassed extensive experience in excavations in the city.

He first came to the City of David to inspect the area on which building of the City of David visitor center was planned. Since then, he has also worked in the Tyropoeon Valley, the Pool of Siloam and the Canal Hideout (Hidden Canal). He worked with Prof. Roni Reich for many years, and now manages the excavations himself.
