Just before you enter the tunnel, come and feel the story of the spring in a sensational journey that will draw you into the past. Take a deep breath, we are about to dive in.

Join us for a new visit experience that tells the story of how the Shiloach tunnel was originally excavated. You will enter a room in the Spring Citadel, where you will be shown a film that uses unique technology with LED screens from 3 different directions.

Experience duration: 10 minutes

Suitable for up to 50 participants at each screening.

Essential Information

Arriving by private car:

Important note: It is difficult to find parking next to the Western Wall and the City of David. We recommend parking in one of the parking lots close to the area and arriving on foot.

Nearby parking lots

  1. Karta and Mamilla parking garages (fee charged): Navigation by WAZE. Walking distance from Karta / Mamilla parking garages to the City of David, approximately 20 minutes. Arrival by taxi is recommended.
  2. Zion/David’s Tomb parking lot (fee charged): Navigation by WAZE – Approximately 9-minute walk to the City of David. Note these parking lots are very limited in space.

Navigation for walking:

Coming from the Kotel, turn left at the Dung Gate and it is a 2-minute walk to the City of David.

Public transportation 

Bus routes:

  • Route 1 – Central Bus Station – Kotel
  • Route 3 – Central Bus Station – Kotel
  • Route 38 – Jewish Quarter (circular route the goes by the Kotel)
  • Route 2 – From Kikar Tzahal (IDF Square) / Yitzhak Kariv Street (circular route operated by Superbus)

Taxis:

Taxis are permitted to enter through Jaffa Gate at all times.

  • There are lockers on site (fee charged) to place personal items. There is no space to leave strollers.
  • The Visitors Center has a souvenir shop with an excellent selection of books, jewelry and unique souvenirs.
  • The presentation is accessible to people with hearing disabilities through a device with a personal neck loop and switching to the T mode on the hearing aid. To receive a neck loop, please ask the usher onsite.
  • The presentation is not accessible to people with physical and visual disabilities.
  • Open food and drink may not be brought into the presentation.
  • The film is shown in English or Hebrew; it is not possible to view it in both languages simultaneously.

FAQ

The site is not accessible. The tour includes stairs and walking in an underground tunnel. The tunnel tour is not suitable for people who suffer from claustrophobia.

The City of David National Park is a secure site, and we work in full cooperation with the security forces.
