Greetings from a vanished world

The story of the youngest fallen IDF soldier has been accompanied by one single photograph for years. Thanks to the CIty of David foundation guides, his family became aware of another rare photograph that had been forgotten. His niece, who works for the foundation, told us emotionally: It was “greetings from a vanished world”.

A 2300-year-old gold ring was found in the City of David

The ring was found in the joint Israel Antiquities Authority – Tel Aviv University excavation. Its small diameter leads experts to suggest it is a child’s ring, either girl or boy, who lived in Jerusalem during the Hellenistic period. “An unusual and deeply moving find, not one found every day.”

Awareness regarding accessibility of infrastructure and services has increased in recent years, but in Jerusalem it is still not easy to find sites that offer accessibility, due to topographical, archaeological, and other reasons. The city, which is surrounded by hills, and full of historic locations and an abundance of preserved archaeological sites, is behind in accessible infrastructure to provide equal access for people with disabilities.
